What is the most important information I should know about Nasalcrom?· Do not use more of this medication than is prescribed for you. Too much may cause serious side effects. · Use Nasalcrom on a regular basis for best results. It may take several weeks to get the maximum effect of this medication. What is Nasalcrom?· Cromolyn sodium is an antiallergic medication. It stops the actions of cells in the body that cause inflammation in response to allergens. · Nasalcrom is used to treat the nasal symptoms of allergies. · Nasalcrom may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before using Nasalcrom?· Before using this medication, tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease. You may need a lower dose or special monitoring during therapy with Nasalcrom. · Nasalcrom is in the FDA pregnancy B. This means that it is unlikely to harm an unborn baby. Do not use Nasalcrom without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant. · It is not known whether Nasalcrom passes into breast milk. Do not use Nasalcrom without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. · Nasalcrom is not approved for use in children younger than 6 years of age. How should I use Nasalcrom?· Use Nasalcrom spray exactly as directed by your doctor. Read the information insert included with your inhaler. If you do not understand these instructions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. · Shake the inhaler well before each dose. · If your nose is congested, try to clear it before using your inhaler to be sure that the medicine gets into your nasal passages. If you are also using a decongestant, use it before using Nasalcrom to open up your nasal passages. However, do not use a decongestant spray unless your doctor approves. · Do not use more of this medication than prescribed for you. It may take a few weeks to see the effects of Nasalcrom. Never use more than six sprays in each nostril in 1 day. Talk to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse. · Store Nasalcrom at room temperature away from moisture and heat. What happens if I miss a dose?· Use the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next regularly scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and use the next one as directed. Do not use a double dose of this medication. What happens if I overdose?· An overdose of this medication is not likely to occur. Call an emergency room or poison control center near you if you think an overdose has occurred. What should I avoid while using Nasalcrom?· Avoid items or activities that you know are allergens for you if they make your symptoms worse. Clean areas where dust or pet fur may aggravate your condition. What are the possible side effects of Nasalcrom?· Serious side effects are not expected with this medication. Seek emergency medical attention if you experience an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives). · Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to use Nasalcrom and talk to your doctor if you experience ·stinging or burning of the nose, ·headache, ·bad taste, ·runny nose or postnasal drip, or ·a rash. · Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome. What other drugs will affect Nasalcrom?· Before using this medication, tell your doctor about any other drugs you are taking. Other oral or inhaled steroids may increase the chance of side effects or overdose. · Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Nasalcrom.
