· Papain is a substance from the papaya fruit. Papain breaks down certain proteins.

· Urea also breaks down protein.

· Papain-Urea Topical is used to debride (remove or breakdown) dead tissue in wounds such as bed sores, ulcers, burns, surgical wounds, cysts, carbuncles, and others.

· Papain-Urea Topical may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

 

What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before using Papain-Urea Topical?

· Before using Papain-Urea Topical, talk to your doctor if you have other medical conditions or allergies. You may not be able to use Papain-Urea Topical, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment.

· It is not known whether papain-urea will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not use Papain-Urea Topical without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.

· Reapply the medication and change the dressing as directed.

· It is important to use papain-urea regularly and for the full amount of time prescribed to get the most benefit.

· Store Papain-Urea Topical at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

 

What happens if I miss a dose?

· Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember.

 

What happens if I overdose?

· Seek emergency medical attention if an overdose of papain-urea is suspected or if the medication has been ingested.

· Symptoms of an overdose of Papain-Urea Topical are not known.
