What is Phazyme-125?

· Phazyme-125 allows gas bubbles in the stomach and intestines to come together more easily, which allows for easier passage of gas.

· Phazyme-125 is used to relieve painful pressure that is caused by excess gas in the stomach and intestines. This gas may occur in many circumstances, including air swallowing, indigestion, ulcers, irritable bowel syndrome, diverticulosis, and after surgery.

· Phazyme-125 may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

 

What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Phazyme-125?

· Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you     ·have liver or kidney disease,     ·have any type of serious illness,     ·are pregnant, or     ·are breast-feeding.

· You may not be able to take Phazyme-125 or you may need special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above.

 

How should I take Phazyme-125?

· Take Phazyme-125 exactly as directed in the package instructions or as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.

· Swallow the tablets and capsules with a full glass of water.

· Chew the chewable tablets thoroughly before swallowing.

· Shake the drops well before using them. To make administration easier, the drops can be mixed with 30 ml (2 tablespoons) of water, infant formula, or another liquid.

· Phazyme-125 is usually taken after meals and at bedtime.

· Do not take more of this medication than is directed.

· Children younger than 2 years of age should not take more than 240 mg of Phazyme-125 in 1 day. Children older than 2 years of age and adults should not take more than 500 mg in 1 day.

· Store Phazyme-125 at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

 

What happens if I miss a dose?

· Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take only the next regularly scheduled dose.

 

What happens if I overdose?

· An overdose of Phazyme-125 is unlikely to be life threatening. If an overdose is suspected, call an emergency room or a poison control center for advice.

 

What should I avoid while taking Phazyme-125?

· There are no restrictions on foods, beverages, or activities while taking Phazyme-125 unless your doctor directs otherwise.

 

What are the possible side effects of Phazyme-125?

· No side effects are known to be associated with the use of Phazyme-125.

· Talk to your doctor if you experience any unusual or bothersome side effects.
