What is the most important information I should know about Sanctura?

· Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Sanctura may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. If you experience dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision, avoid these activities.

· Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while taking Sanctura.

· Avoid becoming overheated in hot weather. Sanctura may increase the risk of heat stroke because it may decrease sweating. Drink plenty of fluid of maintain adequate hydration.

 

What is Sanctura?

· Sanctura relieves spasms of the bladder.

· Sanctura is used to treat overactive bladder with the symptoms of urinary frequency, urinary urgency, and urinary incontinence.

· Sanctura may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide.

 

What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Sanctura?

· Do not take Sanctura if you have     ·a blockage of the urinary tract (difficulty urinating); or     ·a blockage in the intestines.

· Before taking Sanctura, tell your doctor if you have     ·liver disease;     ·kidney disease; or     ·glaucoma.

· You may not be able to take Sanctura, or you may require a dosage adjustment or special monitoring if you have any of the conditions listed above.

· Sanctura is in the FDA pregnancy category C. This means that it is not known whether Sanctura will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take Sanctura without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment.

· It is not known whether Sanctura will harm a nursing infant. Do not take Sanctura without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby.

 

How should I take Sanctura?

· Take Sanctura exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you.

· Take each dose with a full glass of water.

· Take Sanctura at least 1 hour before a meal or on an empty stomach.

· Do not take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. If your symptoms are not being treated, notify your doctor.

· Store Sanctura at room temperature away from moisture and heat.

 

What happens if I miss a dose?

· Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and take only the next regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication.

· Seek emergency medical attention.

· Symptoms of an Sanctura overdose are not known but might include restlessness, tremor, irritability, seizures, delirium, hallucinations, flushing, fever, nausea, vomiting, a fast heartbeat, and possibly coma.

Continue to take Sanctura and talk to your doctor if you experience     ·dry mouth,     ·dryness of the eyes,     ·blurred vision or large pupils,     ·upset stomach,     ·headache,     ·constipation,     ·difficulty urinating,     ·drowsiness, or     ·dizziness.

· Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome.

 

What other drugs will affect Sanctura?

· Before taking Sanctura, tell your doctor if you are taking any of the following medicines:     ·digoxin (Lanoxin);     ·procainamide (Procanbid, Pronestyl);     ·morphine (MS Contin, others);      ·vancomycin (Vancocin, others);      ·metformin (Glucophage); or     ·tenofovir (Viread).

· You may need a dosage adjustment or special monitoring during treatment if you are taking any of the medicines listed above.

· Sanctura may increase the effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, and muscle relaxants. Tell your doctor about all medicines that you are taking, and do not take any medicine unless your doctor approves.

· Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Sanctura. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including herbal products.
