What is the most important information I should know about Tigan?· Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Tigan may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. If you experience dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision, avoid these activities. · Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while taking Tigan. What is Tigan?· Tigan is used to treat nausea and vomiting. · Tigan may also be used for purposes other than those listed in this medication guide. What should I discuss with my healthcare provider before taking Tigan?· Before taking this medication, tell your doctor if you have ·kidney or liver disease, ·an enlarged prostate, ·difficulty urinating, ·bladder problems, ·glaucoma, ·asthma, or ·an irregular heartbeat or any other type of heart disease. · You may not be able to take Tigan, or you may require a lower dose or special monitoring during treatment if you have any of the conditions listed above. · It is not known whether Tigan will be harmful to an unborn baby. Do not take Tigan without first talking to your doctor if you are pregnant or could become pregnant during treatment. · It is not known whether Tigan passes into breast milk. Do not take Tigan without first talking to your doctor if you are breast-feeding a baby. How should I take Tigan?· Take Tigan exactly as directed by your doctor. If you do not understand these directions, ask your pharmacist, nurse, or doctor to explain them to you. · Take each oral dose with a full glass of water. · The suppositories are for rectal use. Do not take them by mouth. · Tigan is usually taken three or four times a day. Follow your doctor's instructions. · Do not take more of this medication than is prescribed for you. · Store Tigan at room temperature away from moisture and heat.
What happens if I miss a dose?· Since Tigan is taken as needed, missing a dose is not usually a problem. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember if you need another dose. Do not take a double dose of this medication. What happens if I overdose?· Seek emergency medical attention. · Symptoms of a Tigan overdose include drowsiness, uncontrollable movements, muscle spasms, blurred vision, seizures or convulsions, difficulty breathing, and death. What should I avoid while taking Tigan?· Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing other hazardous activities. Tigan may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. If you experience dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision, avoid these activities. · Use alcohol cautiously. Alcohol may increase drowsiness and dizziness while taking Tigan. What are the possible side effects of Tigan?· If you experience any of the following serious side effects, stop taking Tigan and seek emergency medical attention or contact your doctor immediately: ·an allergic reaction (swelling of the lips, tongue, or face, difficulty breathing, closing of the throat, or hives); ·yellowing of the skin or eyes; ·seizures or convulsions; or ·muscle cramps or uncontrollable movements. · Other, less serious side effects may be more likely to occur. Continue to take Tigan and talk to your doctor if you experience ·drowsiness or dizziness; ·headache; ·disorientation; or ·blurred vision. · Side effects other than those listed here may also occur. Talk to your doctor about any side effect that seems unusual or that is especially bothersome. What other drugs will affect Tigan?· Tigan may increase the side effects of other drugs that cause drowsiness, including antidepressants, alcohol, antihistamines, sedatives (used to treat insomnia), pain relievers, anxiety medicines, muscle relaxants, and any other drugs that make you feel sleepy or relaxed. Tell your doctor about all medicines that you are taking, and do not take any other medicine without first talking to your doctor. · Drugs other than those listed here may also interact with Tigan. Talk to your doctor and pharmacist before taking any prescription or over-the-counter medicines, including herbal products.
