Baby Care
Infants are completely reliant on the care of their parents for their survival and health. They have no degree of independence and are thus at the mercy of their caregivers. The realization of this fact can be very daunting for many parents. Knowing that they are fully responsible for the care and health of another person can be overwhelming; not only because there is pressure to a good job, but because there is such a great amount of knowledge that must be gained in order to properly care for an infant. Moreover, the fact that each infant is a unique individual with preferences and habits, make infant care an inconsistent and dynamic topic, void of any true semblance of homogeneity.
Despite the wide variation in proper baby care from child to child, there are some basics that each parent should know and begin with. The purpose of this section is to provide parents with a detailed discussion and explanation of some baby care basics. The information given will equip parents with the information and understanding required to provide a high degree of care to their children.
